The Gateway Arts Gallery proudly presents six exhibitions annually.
These exhibitions vary in subject in response to the inspiring artistic works being produced in the various studios. While the subject and work varies, our typical exhibition schedule is as follows:
January – March: A curated group exhibition centered around a theme, with artworks of various mediums, and sometimes featuring a guest curator. This exhibition is free and open to the public featuring works for sale by Gateway artists, and sometimes guest artists. Recent winter exhibitions include Treasures, Linear Time.
April: The A Taste of Gateway special exhibition. This exhibition is free and open to the public for viewing, but works are not for sale to the public. The works are donated by Gateway artists, and are a special benefit included in the purchase of an Art Ticket to our annual fundraiser, A Taste of Gateway.
May – June: A curated exhibition centered around a theme, featuring various mediums. This exhibition is free and open to the public and features works for sale by Gateway artists. Recent spring exhibitions include Three Views, Staff Picks.
July – August: An open call exhibition of paintings centered around a theme, which all artists may participate in should they chose. Artists create two dimensional works on 12 x 18 inch canvases in response to the exhibition theme. This exhibition is free and open to the public, with all works for sale at a fixed price of $150. This show takes place in conjunction with our annual Summer Sale. Recent summer exhibitions include All About Cats & Dogs, New England Landmarks.
September – November: A curated group exhibition centered around a key programmatic theme to kick off the year, featuring artworks of various mediums. This exhibition is free and open to the public for viewing, and features works for sale by Gateway artists. Recent fall exhibitions include Art and the Self, The World is Flat, Double Vision.
December: The gallery is split in two to accommodate a solo artist exhibition featuring a Gateway artist who has developed a significant body of work and artistic point of view in our front studio. This show is free and open to the public. Meanwhile, our popular annual 100 & Under exhibition takes place in the Main Gallery. All works featured in this exhibition are priced at $100 or less, and work may be purchased right off the gallery wall, allowing the exhibition to evolve daily. The opening of this exhibition takes place in conjunction with our annual Holiday Fair.
