The Faces of Gateway
Jul 9 @ 9:00 am – Aug 31 @ 5:00 pm

This year’s summer exhibition is a study in portraiture!  All Gateway artists had the opportunity to participate by responding to the prompt — faces.  As a result, this group show features portraits and self-portraits in many styles.  Subjects include Gateway artists, staff members, family members, and celebrities.  Stop by, and see if you can spot any familiar faces!

The Faces of Gateway Artist’s Reception
Aug 8 @ 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm
The Faces of Gateway Artist's Reception @ Gateway Arts

Join us on Thursday, August 8th from 12:30 to 2:30 PM for a special afternoon reception with Gateway artists in attendance in celebration of the Gateway Gallery’s current exhibition The Faces of Gateway.  This opening reception will offer a unique opportunity to members of the community to interact with Gateway artists who are often unable to attend events which occur outside Gateway’s program hours.

The Faces of Gateway is a themed group exhibition exploring portraiture, specifically representing the individuals who work in the studios, artists and staff alike.

“In this annual, themed exhibition; Gateway artists choose to either, make a self-portrait, or a portrait of someone else at Gateway. With everyone working on the same size canvas; the viewer will not only get a sense of the myriad styles and forms of expression that exist at Gateway, but also an idea of the boundless diversity of our population.”

— Stephen de Fronzo, Art Director at Gateway Arts

This exhibition in particular offers insight into the many people and personalities that make up the community of artists at Gateway, particularly the portraits that tell stories of both artist and subject alike.  At the reception, artists will have the opportunity to speak about their work, subjects, and artistic choices, and engage with one another and members of the Brookline Village community in celebration of their work.
