“I find inspiration through songs in holiday books and hymns of my church. Years back I used color, now I use black and white; it makes it look more traditional. Sort of like the piano keyboard colors. That’s what the sheet music pages look like. For example, I am working on a beaded project that represents that.”
Catherine Patton lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts and has been an artist with Gateway Arts since 1999. Patton works with demonstrated enthusiasm. She skillfully and strategically uses color in work creating striking graphic designs. Her choice of medium, and ability to create implied and actual texture, permit her work to sit between two and three dimensions. Recently Patton’s love of music has been her main source of inspiration and has led to the creation of embroidered sheet music.
Patton has shown her work at the Gateway Gallery and the Boston Children’s Museum.
