Joan Irving, born 1960, has resided with her family in Needham all her life. Irving’s artistic ability was noted while still a child in county fairs. Irving’s work tends to investigate her own cultural heritage as in relation to the world. Irving feels deeply and that passion inspires her to be dedicated to her research. Her artwork is a catalog of theology, anthology, sociology, and the histories of religion. As she endlessly looks for understanding; Irving’s hand scrawled notes create structured compositions. Her work becomes so much more than her research, it captures her desire to be included in the world which she lives.
Irving’s work has been featured in many exhibits at the Gateway Gallery.
